International SEO for SaaS: Markets to Pages

SaaS international SEO connects local search demand to a product your team can actually sell and support in that market. Translating an existing site is one possible production task. The planning starts earlier: which buyers to reach, what they search for, and which pages can help them evaluate your product.

This guide offers a working approach to market selection, keyword groups, page structure, and launch preparation. The two-market example is illustrative, not a client result or a recommendation to enter those markets.

Decide what a new market must prove

Define the country, language, buyer, and product use case together. “German-speaking users” and “procurement teams in Germany” imply different boundaries. An English-speaking buyer in Germany might also evaluate software differently from a buyer in the United States.

Existing inquiries can justify investigating a market. They do not establish its search demand or show that an expanded website will convert. Record the evidence you already have: qualified inquiries, product usage, sales conversations, and the questions buyers ask.

Then check whether your team can serve the demand. Which interface languages are available? Who can run a demo, answer purchasing questions, and support an account? A market plan needs an owner for those activities as well as a content owner.

A useful first scope is bounded: one buyer job, the pages needed to evaluate it, and a review point. Choose its size from the evidence and available people rather than a fixed number of translated pages.

Build keyword groups for each market

Start with the customer's task. Research how people describe the problem, the product category, alternatives, and pricing in the target market. Use local terminology and inspect the actual search results; literal translations are research seeds.

Keep a record for each query: country, language, search volume, keyword difficulty, source, and collection date. Mark unavailable values as missing. Do not carry an English query's volume into its German translation or add overlapping variants as if they represented distinct buyers.

Compare the pages appearing for related queries. A group may belong on one product page when the buying task and results align. A comparison query may need a separate evaluation article; a support question may belong in documentation. Different phrasing alone is not a reason to create another URL.

For each proposed page, write down the main task, related questions, evidence needed, and next action. This makes keyword coverage visible in the actual explanation and examples. Repetition counts cannot tell you whether a buyer's question has been answered.

A two-market planning example

Imagine a collaboration product exploring the United States and Germany. These are invented planning inputs. The query seeds below have not been measured for this example, and the German wording would need review before publication.

The terminology has a public reference: Asana presents project management on its English product page and German use-case page, inspected on September 12, 2026. These pages help illustrate product language. They are not evidence for the demand, difficulty, or performance of our fictional product.

The next output would be a researched page brief with explicit unknowns. Our international SEO service example shows how this can connect to page pairs and delivery responsibilities.

Choose pages and their language counterparts

Build the smallest useful buying path for the chosen task. Depending on the research, that could include a product page, pricing information, and a guide. Reuse an existing page when it answers the same task; create another when the audience needs a materially different answer.

Record corresponding URLs before production. A language switch from a product page should reach its counterpart. Sending every switch to a homepage makes a visitor find the product again. Mark pages without a counterpart so the navigation has an intentional fallback.

Google recommends distinct URLs for language versions and letting visitors choose a language instead of forcing a redirect based on an assumed preference. See managing multi-regional and multilingual sites.

Where hreflang is used, Google's guidance calls for each version to reference itself and the other versions, with reciprocal links and fully qualified URLs. Country targeting and language are related but separate choices. See localized versions.

Have a developer verify the URL pairs, discoverability, indexing signals, and navigation on the implemented pages. Then click the complete route: arrive from a guide, open a product page, change language while reading, and continue to contact. A configuration review alone will not catch every interaction problem. Our technical SEO audit explains how findings become implementation tasks and acceptance checks.

Localize the buying journey

A localized page needs accurate product facts, suitable terminology, readable proof, and a usable next step. Confirm which screenshots represent the interface the buyer will actually receive. Use customer names, quotations, and results only when their publication is authorized.

For illustration, a generic line such as “Work better together” could become the more concrete German draft “Projekte, Aufgaben und Termine an einem Ort.” It describes projects, tasks, and deadlines in one place. This is an editorial draft, not approved native-language copy; the product team and a qualified language reviewer still need to check it.

Assign review responsibilities explicitly. A product owner checks features and limits. A language reviewer checks wording and buyer terminology. A sales owner confirms that the promised demo language, response process, and support are available.

If long-form writing is part of the work, specify whether the delivery is a brief, a draft, an edited article, or a published page. Our SEO content writing approach illustrates the difference between research, writing, and editing deliverables.

International SEO readiness checklist

Use this checklist to identify missing work before production. A completed row should point to a real document, working page, or named owner.

Measure search and inquiries separately

Track execution, search visibility, and qualified inquiries as different layers. Publishing the agreed pages proves delivery. Search impressions and clicks show discovery and visits. Attributed inquiries and sales feedback show whether those visits are reaching suitable buyers.

Review Google Search Console by country and page alongside your own inquiry records. A country report alone does not establish lead quality. Preserve the landing page and campaign or referral information available in your measurement setup, and ask sales to record fit and the requested service.

When progress is limited, diagnose the layer. Undiscovered pages require different investigation from irrelevant queries or visits that stop before contact. Agree a review date and next decision in advance; neither launch completion nor early rankings guarantees revenue.

Before engaging an international SEO agency

What should a proposal include?

Look for named markets, keyword and page-planning outputs, content responsibilities, technical handoffs, and acceptance checks. Distinguish a brief from finished writing, and a recommendation from implemented development. Translation, native-language review, ongoing reporting, and production should have explicit scope.

Is multilingual SEO the same service?

The work overlaps, but the buying task can differ. Improving language versions within one market may not require a new-country strategy. Entering several countries using one language may still require market-specific research. Define the task before choosing the label.

What should we bring to a first conversation?

Bring your website, current markets, target countries and languages, available team, and any approved product or customer material. A first conversation can clarify the scope and open questions. Full keyword research and a market plan belong in the agreed project work. Discuss your international SEO scope.
